I believe a designer’s primary responsibility is to listen to the client, discern what they want to accomplish, and make it happen . It’s just that simple…

Uniqueness
Many people have asked, “Why do you call yourself ‘just a decorator’?” The answer is simple….there is nothing pretentious about me or my work.

What you see is what you get!

After 10 years in a coat and tie, I made the decision to be comfortable…and you’ll rarely see me “dressed up”…THAT WILL COST YOU EXTRA!!!

I am straight-forward, direct, plain-spoken and opinionated…but isn’t that what you hire a designer for? His or her opinion? I pride myself in being very decisive and very fair. It is my job to discern your needs and desires and make them your reality.

If you want quality work with fair pricing then I think you’ll be happy with me.

A good decorator can save his client both time and money…I know where to look…after all, I’m out there shopping every single day…it’s what I do for a living!

Most of my projects are billed on a fee-per-project basis…no hourly charges…no clock to watch. I also work on commissions and/or discounts that my sources provide…so my clients are not penalized by “cost plus” charges for using my services.

I’ve been told I have a great sense of humor (a little dry, maybe)…I think life should be fun!!

Your HOUSE should be your HOME…and when all is said and done, that’s all I really try to accomplish. I believe that a home should be an accurate reflection of the owners and their lifestyle.

HGTV Designers’ Challenge

Having recently moved to Memphis, Sylvia and Steve Richey were ready to renovate the family room in their English country-style home. The couple wanted to update the dark room so that they could use it for reading, relaxing and holiday gatherings.

After considering the three proposed design plans, the couple chooses Jackie Glisson. Mr. Glisson brings the room together with an eclectic appeal, blending contemporary and traditional with the use of sumptuous fabrics and textures. Form meets function and the Richey’s room looks as though it were pulled together over time.

Jackie Glisson’s latest project is Restaurant Iris , a French Creole restaurant in Midtown Memphis.

Restaurant Iris is located in the space that was formerly occupied by La Tourelle, near the historic Overton Square, which has long been a bastion for the culinary foundation of Memphis.

Together with Restaurant Iris’ owner, Chef Kelly English, and Mike Hinton of Hinton Construction, the space is being transformed into a beautiful restaurant where any Memphian can enjoy an exquisite meal.

Restaurant Iris is located at 2146 Monroe Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee, 38104.

My Blueberry Nights

"My Blueberry Nights" is the new film from one of the world’s most sought-after directors, Wong Kar Wai, and was the Opening Night Selection for Cannes Film Festival.

"My Blueberry Nights" is also a film that Jackie Glisson worked on as a Set Decorator. The film, starring Norah Jones, Jude Law, Natalie Portman, Rachel Weisz, and David Strathairn , opens in New York and Los Angeles on April 4th, and everywhere else around April 15th.

Vesta Home Shows

Jackie Glisson has been selected to be a participating designer in three of the Memphis Area Home Builders “Vesta Home Shows”.

Glisson worked as designer and consultant on “Boughton Hall” by Mike LaBarreare’s Reputation Builders in Windsor Park; “Maison d’Or” by Reputation Builders in The Cloisters; and Mike Murphy Homes’ entry in Spring Creek Ranch.

Awards include: “Peoples’ Choice Award” (Maison d’Or), “Best Media Room” (Boughton Hall & Maison d’Or), “Best Special Feature” (shower in Maison d’Or), “Best Foyer/Entry” (Spring Creek Ranch). Glisson’s homes are often deemed “most livable.”
